Meet the team
Sarah Balinskas
Sarah is a native Texan and grew up in Houston. She attended Mount Vernon College, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in 1983. After graduating, she and her partner established Preservation of Art, a conservation and fine art framing business; in 1993, drawing on a decade of experience in conservation-conscious art care, she independently established Sarah Balinskas Art Services. Bringing together craftspeople who shared her vision of refinement, she founded the studio to provide museum-quality framing for clients seeking truly custom frames built to professional, preservation-based standards. When she is not on her yoga mat or in a garden, Sarah may be found on the sailboat she shares with her husband.
Márcia Baptista
Márcia brings her artist's eye and meticulous attention to detail to her position as Preservationist Fitter. She earned her BFA from Laguna College of Art and Design, where she focused on oil painting and illustration, and interned with a fine art gallery and worked for a national framing company before joining SBAS. A practicing artist, her passion for art includes learning new techniques and finding inspiration in other artists' work in galleries and museums. She is fluent in Portuguese.
Anna Cho
Anna majored in studio art and received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Houston, where she became skilled in intaglio and printmaking as well as sculpture. Her proficiency across a wide range of craft techniques and materials, her strong attention to detail, and her creativity are just some of what she brings to the bench. Anna is also actively involved in community service with her church and teaches art and Korean language to elementary children.
Tess Doyle
Tess is a versatile artist, designer, and printmaker with a BFA in printmaking from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. A dedicated arts educator in the Houston community, she currently teaches printmaking and 2D design at the Glassell School of Art, having previously taught at the Kinder High School for Performing & Visual Arts. Her artwork has been exhibited across Texas and the United States, with pieces held in the collections of notable institutions including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and Lawndale Arts Center.
Rick Eddy
Rick has been making gold leaf frames since the 1980s. He apprenticed in Boston with a prominent Master Gilder, then made gold leaf frames for companies around the country before establishing his own gold leaf studio in 1992, taking commissions for custom frames and architectural gilding. He has been making gold leaf frames for Sarah Balinskas since 1992 and joined the SBAS team in 2015. A lover of international travel, he ventured to St. Petersburg to visit the State Hermitage Museum — naturally, the gold leaf was the major attraction. He collects vintage sunglasses. Rick is cool.
Regine Gwyneth
Regine Gwyneth is the newest member of the SBAS team. A multidisciplinary performance artist involved in niches across the city — galleries, open mics, cinemas, theatres, and everything in between — she shares art and artists from Houston, notably through Houston Music Classifieds, a non-profit creating spaces for audiences and local musicians, and through her own curated events and productions. As a lover of the arts, she is ecstatic to see the beautiful pieces that come in and out of the showroom.
Daniel Han
Daniel served in the United States Marine Corps and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Painting with a minor in Art History from the University of Houston. Experience at other frame companies and in customer service with a luxury brand brought him to SBAS in 2015; he began as Registrar, served as Production Manager from 2017 to 2021, and became Business Manager in 2021, overseeing design and production. His teams work on an amazing range of projects to produce exquisite framing and display work. When he is not keeping frame orders on schedule, Daniel's other passions are music and playing guitar.
Nonie Hilliard
Nonie is an avid art consumer and sometimes-maker, practicing analog photography and occasionally performing in plays and musicals around Houston. She started with SB Art Services in 2023 as Showroom Coordinator/Registrar and now works as a Frame Designer, and also produces social media content and marketing materials for the studio. She holds a degree in Visual and Dramatic Arts with a focus in Theatre from Rice University.
Ross Hutchinson
Ross received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Alongside the artisanal precision of printmaking, he is skilled in museum preparatory processes and fine art handling: before joining SBAS he was Special Projects Coordinator for an art handling company and the team leader specifically requested for museum jobs. His sensitivity to the protection of artworks and his craftsperson's approach to handwork are ideal for the bench where woodworking and gilding meet. In his studio work he is researching folk craft in fiber arts and quilt making.
Charlie Richardson
Charlie came to SBAS from the corporate world. Before joining the production team, he had been designing and building beautiful projects in exotic woods — custom electric guitars, amplifier cabinets, boxes for treasures, and frames for artworks, all produced in his home wood shop. What started as a personal passion changed his life when he pursued fine woodwork as a livelihood and accepted a position at SBAS. Charlie brings his passion for wood and perfection of finish to every project.
Binod Shrestha
As the owner and president of Sarah Balinskas Art Services, Binod leads a premier team of artisans dedicated to preserving art. His approach integrates a deep respect for traditional framing methods with a forward-thinking commitment to innovation and excellence. By prioritizing teamwork and client education, he ensures that collectors, designers, and institutions receive bespoke solutions that honor the integrity of their work. Beyond the showroom, Binod is a healthcare tech founder and Rice MBA who enjoys advising local startups and small businesses. He is proud to lead SB Art Services into its next chapter of growth while maintaining its reputation for unrivaled quality.
Riley Wilson
An artist and printmaker, Riley earned an MFA in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design. He acquired practical knowledge of museum practices for the care and handling of artworks at Baylor University's Martin Museum and the RISD Museum's Minskoff Department of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs. With meticulous artistic skill and a practical understanding of preservation, he contributes to the care and enhancement of our clients' collections. In his studio practice, Riley is exploring the fifteenth-century painting technique tempera grassa.
