Frames of the Zodiac
Each month we consult the stars to determine which frame sample from our showroom best represents each astrological sign. Part frame connoisseurship, part horoscope — entirely in earnest about the craft. New signs join the series every month; catch each new entry in The Studio Letter.
January 18 — February 19 · Silver Art Deco Frame with Corner Detail For Aquarius — the “cool rebel” — we chose a contemporary Art Deco-inspired frame with round carved panel steps and a bold geometric corner motif, gilded in white gold leaf with a light-medium rub to reveal blue clay. We think this frame's unconventional elegance and playful design perfectly capture Aquarius' unique spirit!
February 18 — March 20 · Distressed Modern Wavy Gold Frame Pisces are free-spirited individuals exhibiting deep empathy, creativity, and intuition. Accordingly, this eccentric contemporary frame is dreamy and a bit “out there” — it reminds us of ocean waves! Or even fish fins…
March 20 — April 20 · Moon Gold Taos Frame Aries are fierce, fiery, and passionate individuals; this moon gold Taos frame is warm, sharp, and bold… a match made in the heavens!
April 20 — May 21 · Dutch Frame with Gilded Lip We chose our chunkiest, most creatively carved Dutch frame for this Zodiac sign. We think it perfectly embodies Taurus' spirit: stubborn, solid, and fixed — but with great creative energy!
May 21 — June 21 · Gilded Flat Tops with Alternating Colored Stripes These twin frames are made by a master frame maker in Romania — he told us this particular design was inspired by a popular motif used by Italian Renaissance frame makers, who were inspired in turn by designs in ancient Egyptian decorative arts. His frame designs are singularly beautiful and masterfully made. We are proud to have several samples of his work in our showroom!
June 21 — July 22 · Carved Spanish Frame We celebrate Cancers for their warmth, loyalty, and tenacity! This carved Spanish frame is warm and earthy with a strong, steady presence. Timelessly resilient.
About the series
Every sign gets a frame.
The series began in January 2026 with Aquarius and adds one sign each month, drawn from the corner samples in our Taft Street showroom — water-gilded golds, carved profiles, painted hardwoods, and the occasional wild card. Twelve months, twelve signs, twelve very different frames.
