Our role as stewards

Knowing when an artwork needs a specialist.

We believe the most honest service we can provide is knowing exactly when an artwork needs a specialist. If we identify tears, structural weaknesses, chemical instability, or surface degradation during our intake inspection, we do not attempt to “fix” it ourselves. Instead, we coordinate the path forward — acting as your project manager and facilitating communication between you and the conservator, so the restoration goals align perfectly with the eventual framing and display environment.

PhotographsPhotographic processes are uniquely sensitive to chemistry. We refer works to experts who understand the delicate nature of albumen prints, silver gelatin, and cased photographs, ensuring chemical stabilization before archival housing.

TextilesFor antique tapestries, heirlooms, or fine embroidery, we collaborate with textile conservators to perform gentle surface cleaning and structural stabilization before we provide the archival mounting support.

Objects & SculpturesFrom porcelain and ceramics to historic metalwork, we help connect your three-dimensional pieces with restorers capable of cleaning surfaces, removing non-archival adhesives, and stabilizing structural fractures.

We ensure that the conservator's stabilization work is fully supported by our framing. If a conservator needs a painting to remain on its stretcher, or requires a specific air gap for a stabilized textile, our bench team engineers the housing to meet those exact requirements.
