Custom Armatures & Object Mounts
True mountmaking is the art of supporting the invisible. We create custom brass, steel, and acrylic armatures that allow historic artifacts and textiles to stand exactly as they were intended, without ever needing adhesives, pins, or physical alteration to the object itself.

Approach
Support without touch.
Our mountmaking discipline is rooted in the “do no harm” philosophy of institutional museums. Each armature is precision-shaped to the contours of your object and lightly padded, ensuring the work rests securely while remaining fully reversible. Nothing is glued or pinned through the material; the object simply sits in a perfectly engineered embrace.
Conservation science
Chemically inert contact barriers.
We take the chemistry of contact seriously. Every armature arm that touches your artifact is finished with heat-shrink polyolefin tubing or archival silicone barriers. These inert interfaces prevent metal-on-metal friction, chemical oxidation, and mechanical stress. From hand-formed brass wire and textile forms — utilizing archival Ethafoam® and Volara® padding — to wall-mounted cantilevered bracket systems, we select the materials that best serve the artwork's structural and aesthetic requirements.
