What do coconuts, a wedding dress, an articulated snake skeleton, and a pair of Louboutin heels have in common? Together, these objects represent just a few of the three-dimensional displays we've created over the years.

When it comes to designing displays for art and objects, there is no one-size-fits-all solution, but our approach is always the same: we seek to showcase and preserve without altering, compromising, or detracting from the work itself. Guided by these principles, we are proud to design sophisticated display solutions for a vast range of art media, artifacts, and objects.

Acrylic cases

Museum-grade acrylic boxes provide a frameless look with robust protection. These cases are custom-made in UV-filtering acrylic and assembled with crystal clear bevel joinery. They can be made as either a wall display or a bonnet to cover a base or pedestal.

Armatures

Often used when there is no other way to safely display an object, armatures are designed to conform to the contours of the object, support its weight, and hold it securely in place. They are usually made of brass and welded to jeweler's precision.

For this project, we were tasked with creating a wall display for a pair of stone busts. Our armature maker created a structure to wrap around the bust from behind, screwed to a custom painted wood deck that can be hung on a wall. Wherever the armature touches stone, it is lined with archival felt and painted to match the surrounding surface.

Pedestals and bases

Three-dimensional artworks may require a base or pedestal. These may be small and intended for display on a table top, shelf, or desk, or they may be larger and designed to stand freely on the floor. They often include an armature to secure the object and/or an acrylic box to encase it.

This miniature sculpture is mounted on a custom wooden base and encased in an acrylic bonnet. To mount the sculpture, we created small depressions in the wood — one for each leg — and filled them with museum putty. This method is secure, discreet, and 100% reversible.

For a museum-quality display, a large, free-standing pedestal and base bring this headdress and necklace to waist height and allow for a 360° view of the work. It may be displayed bare or covered with an acrylic bonnet for protection.
