Enhancing your imagination
Two gorgeous examples of hand-carved, water-gilded gold leaf frames. First is a 22k-over-green-clay frame in the style of the Arts and Crafts Movement, reflected in its organic form and simplicity. Then a burnished contemporary step frame, gilded over red clay and finished with an umber wash. Both of these frames were milled, carved, and gilded in-house by our Master Gilder.
Cherry wood, at last
We don't talk enough about cherry wood! With its rich color, fine grain, and smooth texture, cherry wood is a great choice for anyone wanting soft, earthy framing that still makes a statement. This in-house cherry wood frame was milled and joined in our woodshop before being lightly stained to bring out the natural color. As with most hardwood pieces, this frame will only deepen and become richer in color over time.
A frame makeover
Nothing like a frame makeover to breathe new life into a piece! This client came in with a gorgeous framed Leonora Carrington wanting to swap out the frame for something more modern. We reframed the work in a custom-milled contemporary frame with ebonized sides and a white gold leaf face, gilded in-house by our Master Gilder and burnished to a modern sheen. We think this frame strikes the perfect balance between glamour and understatement, elevating the work while keeping the main focus on the art itself.
